I have two
rather brilliant ideas for you today. Brilliant may be a slight exaggeration,
but anything that makes my life EASIER and COSTS NOTHING has some level of
brilliance, no?
Take a look
at this picture:
Anything
stand out to you in this shot?
Tip #1:
Store your every day coffee mug in the dishwasher.
Yup, that's my mug and it's
in the dishwasher all of the time except for when it is my hot chubby hand. This
has wonderful benefits: I never have to hunt for where I left it. Nobody else
EVER uses it, 'cause they think it is dirty even when it is not. I don't
have to make room for it in the cupboard. Neat idea, huh?
My mug
d'jour is always, always in there. I do change out my mug occasionally---special
one at Christmas or a fall one for autumn. But this newest much is my current
fav----a gift from a granddaughter who works at Dunkin' Donuts. Do you see
anything extra special about the design of this mug? Take a second look. I'll
wait for you.
Waiting.....waiting....waiting.
Did you
catch it? All you terribly observant people out there might have spotted
the totally unique feature of this mug. It is LEFT HANDED! Yay! I am a southpaw
and I've never, in all my many many many decades of drinking coffee,
encountered a left handed mug before. Usually the pretty side of the mug, the
unique design, the cute saying is facing away from me. This one faces me! How
exciting!
Hang on, Tip
#2 is coming up. Can hardly wait, can you?
Check back
to the same picture. Notice anything else unusual about the contents of the
dishwasher? Yup, there's a sponge sitting there, waiting for a shower.
Tip #2. Store and Wash your sponge in the dishwasher.
I've been
doing this for years and now somebody leaked my idea to the sponge manufacturers
and they have started advertising this hint: wash your sponge in the dishwasher.
Neat, huh?
Most of the
time I like using sponges, but, let's face it, they do get grungy, grimy and
downright stinky. A little ride through the dishwasher takes care of all of
that. Plus the boosted hot water can disinfect the sponge, too. What's not to
love about this idea?
Well, truth
in advertising: it might shorten the life of your sponge. But, hey, having a
clean sponge for a shorter lifespan beats smearing germs all over your counters
any day of the week.
And guess
what?
I keep the sponge in the dishwasher, too.
We don't
have a new, remodeled kitchen with one of these jobbies:
Even if you
don't have access to or opt for this flip down thingie, you have your choice of
buying a gazillion kinds of sponge holders. But, hey! (Jack) Putting them in the
dishwasher does not cost a thing!
Free, free, free!
It's the
only way to go.

...and one more thing......
uh, I'll get back to you when I remember it.

Jer stores his cup right on the shelf I've gotta get him to put it in the dishwasher, gread Idea cheapo! I do have the drop down drawer though and keep my sponges in there.
BIG NEWS! Jim read the blog and now, suddenly, I see he is storing his mug right next to mine in the dishwasher. How cute! I've suggested that to him, verbally, lots of times in the past. Guess he needs to see it in print. Hmmm, what can I "suggest" next in this blog?
Jim hasn't commented in so long that I figured he wasn't reading anymore.
