The 5th in a fascinating series on trash.
I hear you guys in the south are in the doggiest days of Summer. Poor things! In the spirit of that, and because Valerie likes to post old pictures on Flashback Fridays, I thought I'd share a very old photo with you.
This is the house where I grew up.
Mom and dad built the house in 1932 before they had any kids. At some point they acquired a dog, a collie named Lady. This is the one and only picture of the one and only dog our family ever owned.
No, that's not me standing in the door. That's my cousin Lowell. The date on the picture reads 7/1/36 . I didn't appear on the scene for ten more years. The oldest of us, my sister Pat, was 2 weeks old at the time of this shot. She'd be so thrilled to know I am publishing her age. Let's hope any of you that might know my sister will keep your mouth shut!
I don't know how long we had Lady. I do know where she went, though. Seems Lady and the garbage man became very fond of each other, and mom, not being much of an animal lover, gave Lady to the garbage man.
I'm not sure how long after Pat was born that this event occurred.

I'm not saying it was cause and effect.
I'm not saying it wasn't, either.
Do you suppose mom's extreme generosity to the garbage man has somehow, some way influenced my TRASH series for this blog?
