A Riverbanks Zoo Christmas.. Zooalicious

So.

We loaded the babies up in the stroller and headed off to Riverbanks Zoo, "where it snows every night", to see their Christmas Lights.
First, the snow.

It's adorable. But in 70 degree weather, it is obviously fake.
-
Surprising, then, as we left, to hear Eva say, "Wow it's snowing at the zoo and it's not snowing out here! It's snowing at the zoo only!! Can you believe it!!?!!" OK, well, she's 3, but still.

Upon arrival, Libby and Ross were quite disappointed that they couldn't see the animals, we were just there for the lights. Later, we did get to see a few animals afterall -- we saw a few sleeping in their nightly habitats -- which was fun, but, unforeseen, the kids really, really enjoyed the sculptures. Kids are so creative when in bleak circumstances.

Here's Tom and Eva enjoying the evening.

During a short stop at the barn, Eva had to milk the cow.

We followed our trip to the zoo with a trip to Starbucks, per Jenn. It was a great evening.

So... the next day... Eva just had to return and take her "brother" (Uncle Tommy) and Eden to the zoo to see the lights. She was startled that you couldn't hardly see the lights anymore, but she still pointed them out.

We stopped to see my favorites, the Penguins, and just look at this. Isn't that sweet? Just like an old married couple or something.
-
I almost cried.

Then, in the aquarium, what a surprise to find Santa Claus himself hand-feeding the fish. That was one of the oddest things I've ever seen. It was cool watching him interact with the stingray. I think it was attracted to his red, like a bull.

Oddly, there were a few times when the kids seemed bored.

The last thing on our agenda was The Carousel. Eva dug deep in her purse and dug out enough money to pay for herself & Tommy.

It was an awesome two days of Zoo.
