I'm excited. I'm heading out today on another SC Disaster Relief trip. I'm going with a Mud-Out team to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We'll be pumping water out of houses, carrying out debris and furniture, removing flooring, removing sheetock and hauling it all off to the dump.
The part my heart burns for is talking with the homeowners. A huge part of disaster relief is listening. Every single one of the homeowners has a story to tell and they need to tell it. They need to mourn through it and they need to be offered God's grace and mercy and love. They need to see God's love in action and not just a crew come in to quickly clean-up and rebuild. It is my prayer that God puts the people in my path that He has so designed. It is my prayer that I recognize them and allow Him to speak through me.
Pray for all of our teams up there. We will encounter so many hurting people, some who know God and some who don't; all of whom are wondering "why me?" Pray that each of us workers are in constant prayer and focus on God and His work.
Meanwhile, I have left you some blogs that will automatically post each day. The Reader Submitted Photo and the Blue Plate won't change all week. The links to other blogs will remain current, so continue to check them out and read your favorites.
